Trust on your emotional intelligence

In this article I try to outline the significance of trusting on ones emotional intelligence in making decision.

In my own experience, I have a tendency to suppress hard emotions and then work them through by physical exercise. However, nowadays, I think there are better ways to deal with difficult emotions rather then destroying ones own body in too much exercise or sports. In general I think that many suppress their emotions out of fear or lack of willingness to explore and face them. Therefore, to live more whole we need to embrace all facets of being. Limiting yourself to depress emotions can cause imbalances on the other 3 layers of living (spiritual, mental and physical).

I think that our emotional intelligence is more subtle then our analytical mind and it is more related to our spiritual layer. Tapping into this intelligence can greatly enhance our decision making skills to give direction in our lives. Emotions contain information of which only a trained feeler can decode them. We all have the ability to tune into our emotions if we allow them to be. By not judging our emotional state, we can listen to what it has to say to us. Any form of body meditation can make you more aware of your emotions. Emovere means movement in Latin. Emotion happens throughout our bodies and can make itself more present if you start to listen to what your body has to say about them.

Consider the hierarchy in the 4 layers of being (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual). Information from the top down needs to be understood in order to live optimal. Cutting yourself of from your emotions will cause confusion and lack of direction in your life. Our intellectual mind can only understand so much of which our emotions already know. Besides that, I think that autism is perhaps develop due to suppressing the emotional sensitivities out of self-protection.

It ain’t easy since the sword cuts on two sides here so to speak. Recognizing emotions and truly feeling them can be great, it can also mean someone would become to vulnerable and hypersensitive, meaning that it would cause an imbalance of a different kind, which isn’t ideal either.
