Like all topics, if you have never immersed yourself in the ‘thing’ then it is very hard to relate on a subjective level. Gaming is one of those topics that is often misunderstood and prejudged as a ‘waste of time’. We tend to be overly attached to what our environment is telling us what not to do and what to do. These stories are often times loaded with cognitive dissonance. Because gaming is a relative fresh and new topic in terms of personal development and education, most authorities do not want to agree on the potential benefits such a new paradigm of learning can bring us.
I would argue with that. Gaming can greatly enhance your cognitive development when you become good at it. It is not without reason that flight simulators can help future pilots to navigate an airplane. They even created certain games to help autistic children learn mathematics by using visuals and symbols! This tells me that every child or person has certain trigger points in their nervous system that needs to be stimulated with a pinpointed approach. Unfortunately, this is market wise not very lucrative for the potential suppliers of such systems. Special individual needs always cost more in a geological free market place. However, when the bad quality of current educational systems diminish the transformation of our personal development, we need to stay open for better ways of stimulating our minds.
Our educational systems have been biased because of economical and political pressure. We have to ask the question if this pressure is actually necessary or only a desired objective by the status quo.
I believe in the power of breaking patterns and dogma’s when better systems are waiting to be implemented. The only reason why people wait to make a beneficial change is out of lethargy or fear.
Let’s start building towards a brighter future together.
Here a video where I share my personal experience in gaming and what I gained from it:
